Mission/Vision

  1. To cooperate with the Royal Government of Cambodia in all issues relating to leprosy.
  2. To work towards the elimination of leprosy as a public health problem at district and health centre levels.
  3. To prevent disability in persons affected by leprosy.
  4. To ensure access to medical rehabilitation for persons living with the negative effects of leprosy.

Areas of Focus (projects)

  1. Support to the National Leprosy Elimination Programme (NLEP) of the MoH in early case finding and diagnosis and treatment.
  2. Rehabilitation of people with established leprosy-related disability.
  3. Development of prevention of disability strategies.
  4. Socio-economic rehabilitation

 

Main Activities/ Descriptions of the project (2004)

  1. Strengthen early case finding by operational district staff level to reduce disability rates nationwide. Improve early diagnosis through IEC, and refresher training of medical staff. Improve drug management. Increase capacity of programme supervisors.
  2. Rehabilitation of people with established leprosy disability through the Kien Khleang Centre on an outpatient and inpatient basis through medical, surgical and socio-economic rehabilitation services.
  3. Development of pilot project for prevention of disability strategies so that patients develop no more disability than that which was irreversible at diagnosis.
  4. Expansion of a pilot SER project to increase the standard of living for leprosy families through skills training and income generation activities.
