Main Activities

The MWVA is expected to collaborate with NGOs, especially national women's NGOs,
in order to ensure that women's agenda and gender equality issues are intergrated
into the public decision-making processes and to serve as a forum for women in
Cambodia. Since the Paris Peace Accords of 1992, many national NGOs advocating
for women's rights have been formed. Needs for coordinating their activities have
become more acute. There are several main activities to be carried out for the
second five-year program including:
- Development of an institutional framework in the ministry and the Royal Government of Cambodia in order to promote the status of women, veterans and their families.
- Development of policies and plans for the promotion of the status of women, veterans and their families.
- Promotion of women's reproductive health including:
- Strengthening the capacity of MWVA for integrating gender issues into the promotion of women's reproductive health.
- Reduction of violence against women and children. - Increasing the awareness of gender equality issues among the general public.
- Enhancing the capacity of women, veterans and their family and economic development.
- Reintegration and achievement of social and economic self-reliance of veterans in civil society.
