The PRC Committee is the one of the DAC Committee that are operating in Cambodia. The PRC Committee there are sub committee being called Physiotherapy sub committee (PT), Prosthetic and Orthotic (PO) sub committee and Wheelchair (W/C) sub committee. The PRC Committee was established in order to

• To maintain sustainability of its physical rehabilitation centers
• To encourage involvement of MoSVY for future ownership of the PRCs
• To improve quality of service provided by PRCs

The PRC Committee is performing much activities in Phnom Penh city and other provices of Cambodia. These activities are:

• Organizing regular meetings
• To collect and collate annual national statistics on outcomes of all 11 rehabilitation centers and disseminate to the stakeholders;
• To develop policies for future sustainability of centers;
• To work with Ministry of Social affairs Veteran and Youth (MoSVY) regarding localization of each center;
• To assist Ministry of Social affairs Veteran and Youth (MoSVY) for center monitoring

Achievement:

• Set up PRC managers meeting;
• Reviewing its Term of Reference (ToR) by changing the chair should be the Khmer;
• Development of policies for 11 centers;
• Ongoing discussion with Ministry of Social affairs Veteran and Youth (MoSVY) on future planing process 2009-2011;
• To complie PRC national statistic 2006 for circulation

Physiotherapy sub committee (PT)

The Goal of PT sub committee are:

• To improve Physiotherapy services of each PRCs
• To enhance existing knowledge in response to the needs of PwDs
• To integrate the profession regionally and internationally
• To follow up the implementation of quality of service according to service standards

Activities of PT sub committee

• To coordinate PT upgrade training
• Develop PT glossary
• Assist PT sub to organize congress
• Lobby Ministry of Health for their agreement to the PT Glossary of terms
• To coordinate the update of the PT curriculum to the Technical School for Medical Care (TSMC)

Achiement:

• 2 promotions with 23 PTs graduated from the upgrade training;
• Third promotion is on going course;
• PT glossary finalized;
• Curriculum of PT at TSMC updated and officially recognized by Ministry of Health (MoH) and Ministry of Education Yoth and Sport (MoEYS);

Prosthetic and Orthotic (PO) sub committee:

The PO sub committee is working for:

• To improve PO service of each PRCs;
• To enhance existing knowledge in response to the needs of PwDs;
• To follow up the implementation of quality of service according to service standards;
• To be a model service provider of providing prosthetic and orthotic service to PwDs in the region

Achivement:

2 promotions of PO upgrade from Cat II to Cat I done

Wheelchair (W/C) sub committee:

The Weelchair sub committee is working on:

• To fill the gap of providing services to PwDs in Cambodia;
• To talk technically with wheelchair producers, providers and users ;
• To follow the quality standard.

Achivement:

• W/C meeting was changed to be W/C sub committee;
• ToR reviewed;
• Stakeholders identified;
