What is the Disability Action Council?
The Disability Action Council (DAC) is a permanent body made up of representatives
from the Cambodian Government as well as from non-governmental aid organisations
who are committed to working for the well-being of Cambodia's people with disabilities
(PWD). Our mission is to initiate, secure and coordinate the services necessary
for people with disabilities, and to enable them to enjoy the same rights to opportunities
for employment and quality of life as others in society.
We do not deliver services directly to people with disabilities. Instead, our
role is to work hand-in-hand with all groups working with PWD. At the same time,
we act in a professional advisory capacity to the Cambodian Government's policy-makers
and legislators on all issues affecting the welfare of PWD.
By bringing together government, national and international organisations,
business, religious organisations and local communities, the DAC aims to facilitate
the continuous evolution of a comprehensive national approach to rehabilitation,
equalisation of opportunities, and prevention of disabilities.
