August 18-19, 2009 Workshop on "Recognize our Rights-Fulfill our Needs"

The Workshop on Recognize our Rights- Fulfill our Needs was co-organized by HIF, CDPO and DAC on August 18-19, 2009, presided over by H.E Sem Sokha, Secretary of State of Ministry of Social Affairs, Veteran and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY) at the World Vision Conference Room.

The goal of the workshop was; to develop an evidence-based list of claims to be used as an advocacy tool by persons with disabilities and disabled people organization; to identify the most urgent needs of persons with disabilities; to identify the gaps between relevant laws/policies and the extent of service provision. The workshop was fully attended more than 50 participants from 24 provinces. The workshop organizers divided participants into 6 groups with different facilitators. DAC facilitated three groups on education, employment and participation and physical accessibility. Health, gender and youth were facilitated by HIF, and CDPO.

As a result, participants were able to find out many issues, identify priority bullet points, and give recommendations to relevant government ministries and private institutions to take action for prevention and promotions of persons with disabilities.
