July 27-29, 2009 Training on "Deaf Culture Awareness and Blind Daily Living Skills and Mobility"
The Training on "Deaf Culture Awareness and Blind Daily Living Skills and Mobility" was organized by Handicap International France at the office of HIF on July 27, 29, 2009. The Training aimed to raise the basic awareness on the daily living, culture and behavior of blind and deaf people to focal staff of development partners.
The Training was attended by energized participants from various development partners, especially CDPO, ABC, DDP, HACC, LICADHO, TPO, DAC, ADD, HIF, and KT and else. For the two day-sessions, the training was divided into two parts on July 27, 2009, the lecture on Deaf Awareness was facilitated by Deaf Development Program (DDP) and on July 28-29, 2009, Association of Blind in Cambodia (ABC) facilitated the lecture on the Orientation and Mobility (O&M) of blind people. By the end of the training, participants were able to use some sign language and gained awareness of the culture of blind and deaf people and understanding of how to guide them at workplaces or in public places.
