Overview Disability
In Cambodia, many survivors of landmines and other explosive remnants of war (ERW) and other persons with disabilities live in poverty in remote communities with limited access to services that would promote their physical, psychological, social and economic well-being. They often experience discrimination and have fewer opportunities to participate in all spheres of society including areas of health, education, vocational training and income generation.
Over more than a decade there have been many successful disability/victim assistance projects implemented in Cambodia. Most have been integrated with other general disability services. Service provision is most often delivered by non-governmental and other international development partner organizations. However, in some areas there is overlapping service provision, a lack of services, a lack of coordination and/or collaboration, or unnecessary competition among stakeholders.
