7.1. Education for Children with Disabilities

Strategic Plan

GOAL

All children with disabilities receive education, and have equal rights and opportunities to participate in society and benefit from society.

IMMEDIATE OBJECTIVE

All children with disabilities participate in and receive formal and non-formal education either at home, in mainstream schools, in special schools, or special classes.

OBJECTIVES
  1. Family and community awareness of the potential of children with disabilities to be educated is developed, supported and promoted.
  2. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has the capacity and resources (materials, teaching equipment) to train new teachers about disability issues, and provide refresher training for existing teachers.
  3. Special equipment is provided for schools to facilitate the accessibility of children with disabilities in mainstream schools.
