12. Self-Help Organisations

Strategic Plan

GOAL

People with disabilities have rights and opportunities like other citizens participating in mainstream development, through development of self-help groups.

IMMEDIATE OBJECTIVE

Capacity building for people with disabilities and their families through self-help groups, so that they can participate in mainstream development in society.

OBJECTIVES
  1. To promote participation of people with disabilities in mainstream development.
  2. People with disabilities benefit from self-help groups through participation.
  3. To set up a working group of self-help groups which have the involvement of NGOs working in the community.
  4. To strengthen collaboration between self-help group NGOs working in the community, and government institutions.
  5. To develop training programmes such as leadership training, management, and self-help group formation at community level.
  6. To support and strengthen the membership of self-help groups of people with disabilities through capacity building.
