Introduction to the Strategic Directions Plan

Note: This document was formerly called the Cambodian Plan of Action.

The Disability Action Council, with its affiliated members, oversees the provision of a wide range of services for disabled people. The DAC is thus the ideal structure to guide the development of strategic directions for the disability and rehabilitation sector.

The Strategic Directions for the Disability and Rehabilitation Sector document is an exhaustive overview of services available in the disability and rehabilitation sector. It identifies gaps in current initiatives, as well as strategies to overcome these. It is a tool which helps to guide investment for the whole sector, encourages organisations to think about integration of their work into the sector as a whole, and helps to minimise service overlap.

The Strategic Directions plan is the product of numerous meetings and discussions among the organisations concerned. The participatory nature of the planning process ensures that the goals and objectives of each organisation are part of the overall strategic direction.

This second edition of Strategic Directions for the Disability and Rehabilitation Sector was completed in the second quarter of 2001. It will be updated regularly with regard to planned projects and perceived gaps in services, as well as possible strategies to address those gaps.

Strategic Directions is broken up into 15 components.
